Our guest author ‘Petroladdict’ has been over to check out the Yorkshire Big Breakfast.

“For the past two years I’ve successfully managed to miss the Yorkshire Big Breakfast – this year I made a point of making the pilgrimage to Specialist Cars of Malton to see what all the fuss was about!

Arriving along the B1248 there were signs and marshalls ready and waiting to direct us into the industrial estate. The first thing that hits you is the sheer variety of metal parked up on the side of the road and car parks throughout the business park.

Within seconds we’d driven past a Twisted Defender, a wide-bodied HIllman Imp, a VX220 Turbo, an Air-bagged Jetta, a Willys Jeep and a Lamborghini Countach – a real melting pot of automotive erotica.

Two workshops were open for you to wander around with cars on lifts in various states of repair, whilst a minimum of six big car parks were full of varied metal in conjunction with the Specialist Cars of Malton showroom.

Police presence at events like this is always a bit of a necessary evil and did dampen the event a little, preventing some of the more exotic and modified metal from spinning their tyres with some “spirited” driving. Still, I can live with that as the event more then makes up for it in variety with almost every facet of car culture represented!

Will I be coming back for the next one? Absolutely! Although remember to get there early so you don’t miss out on the hog roast!”
