The Mk1 Ford Focus was the first regular Ford that properly got my attention. Apart from the Cosworth’s, their standard run-of-the-mill models just never entered my radar.
My Dad had a Mk1 , a 2.0 Ghia Estate in “Questionable Gold”*, and it was nice to have a car from that sector that had some styling as well as space. The 1.6 petrol even had a nice exhaust note too.
This time round though, it appears Ford have gone for the more ‘conservative’ approach; trying to address iffy build quality and answer to those who found the original design fussy – possibly in attempt to steal more Golf owners?
